Four Basic Types of Writing
There are four basic types of writings. Narrative, expository, persuasive, and descriptive. Before you start writing you should decide on what type of writing you will be using so that your writing is consistent and less confusing to your readers.

- Narrative-Whether your writing is fact or fictional narrative writing is distinctive because you are reporting a series of events that occurred during a specific time period.
- Expository-Can be identified by descriptive reasons, how to, or steps to complete something which includes a main idea, supporting statements, and a conclusion.
- Persuasive-Writing about a person or subject with reasons, statistics, or projections in an effort to convince someone of what you are writing about.
- Descriptive-Writing about people, places, and/or events by elaborating on the details to give your reader a sensory, detailed description of what you are trying to convey.
